Privacy policy
The short version: the app has no account, no telemetry and no server of ours. Your notes stay on your Mac, and sync goes through a folder you own.
The PixoNotes app
- No account. You never sign up, and there is nothing to sign in to.
- No telemetry. The app sends no analytics, no usage data and no crash reports to us.
- No server of ours. Your notes, boards, stickies and attached files are stored as files on your Mac. We cannot see them, and the app never talks to this website.
- Sync goes through a folder you own. With sync on, notes are written as small files to a folder you choose, iCloud Drive by default. No PixoNotes server is involved. That folder is covered by the terms of whoever provides it.
- AI runs on your Mac. The AI buttons use Apple Intelligence, handled by macOS on your Mac.
Every connection the app makes
The complete list, as of 2026-11-02.
| What | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing, for your notes | Always | Notes, boards, stickies, attached files and what Apple Intelligence does with them are never sent anywhere by PixoNotes. There is no account and no server of ours. |
| cdn.pixonotes.com | At launch and once a day, in the direct download only | Nothing. The app downloads one small file to see whether a newer version exists, like any download from a website. Our storage provider sees an ordinary web request. |
| api.polar.sh (our payment provider) | When you activate or deactivate a Pro licence key, and when the app checks that a key is still valid | The licence key, our organisation id at Polar, and a label for the Mac: its name and a short hash of its hardware id. Nothing about your notes. On the free plan this never happens. |
| The sync folder you chose | Only with sync on (Pro) | Your notes are written as small files to a folder you own, iCloud Drive by default. PixoNotes talks to that folder, not to a server. What happens to the folder afterwards is between you and whoever provides it, Apple for iCloud Drive. |
| Apple Intelligence | Only when you press an AI button (Pro) | Handled by macOS, using Apple's models on your Mac. |
This website
The website is separate from the app, and it does keep some records.
- Downloads and buy buttons. When you download PixoNotes or press a buy button, we store your IP address and the place it points to (country, region, city and network, from ipinfo.io), your device, operating system and browser, the page that sent you, any campaign tags on the link, and the time. We use this to count downloads and to see which pages work.
- Reading pages. Reading a page stores nothing about you in our database.
- Cookies. Two small cookies keep your choices and nothing else:
pn_langfor your language andpn_themefor light or dark. Neither is set until you make a choice. Neither follows you to other sites. - glai.io. A page-view counter that sets no cookies.
Buying Pro
Polar takes the payment and is the seller of record. It collects your email address and payment details under its own privacy policy, and it issues your licence key. We see your order, not your card. See Polar's privacy policy.
How long we keep it, and your rights
Download and buy-button records are kept for as long as they are useful for counting and are not sold or shared. To see or delete what we hold about you, write to [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days.
